This beautiful young woman isn't a model, she approached us to create some images along the "how to look good naked shoot".

These images are the result of a quick test shoot with this beautiful young woman.
In fact we didnt do anyting to prepare for the shoot, this is just how she turned up to the studio. No photography makup, no ridiculously expensive modelling clothes, and yet she still looks fantastic right 'out of the box'.
I wish all my clients looked this good when they walk in the door!
I am looking forward to getting a real shoot done with her sometime soon!

If your children are like mine, they would rather have teeth pulled than go to a studio for a photo shoot.
Thats why we took these images at a local beach.
The weather on the day was too perfect. The sky was so blue that my wife thought that I had faked these shots in the studio.
In fact it was so windy that we could only use four of the eight balloons that we had taken with us. And even those were hopelessly tangled by the time we got to the edge of the sea.
 I was really impressed by the height that she jumped to in the image. It looks almost like the balloons are pulling her upwards.
These types of photo shoots are great fun and the children dont even realise that they are having to work! |

This was part of an overall lifestyle shoot that included the whole family. We all went along to a local beach and I took over 250 images on that half day alone.
The young girl was playing on her own near the old wooden breakers, so I kept an eye open looking for an opportunity to catch her off guard.
She stood near this post for a while and I waited until she looked up before firing the shutter.
The image was converted to black and white and I increased the contrast in the sky to create this moody image.
I like the fact that she looks completly natural and doesn't have a 'forced' smile.

This photo nearly killed us all - (well not quite)
It was shot in the bathroom (hence the water surrounding the model) and I was stood on the side of the bath looking directly down.
The number of times that I nearly fell in doesn't bear thinking about, but somehow we managed to finish the shoot without me standing on the model.
I love the way that the ripples in the water make the image beautifully abstract and send her hair flowing above her head.
Getting the right amout of specular highlights in the water was the trickiest part of the lighting, but we quickly worked out what to do and I really like the final image. |
This is another bride posing at Bridlington where she is going to get married later this year.
It was really windy on the Saturday when I took these images and it was quite impossible to stop her hair from blowing around. So instead of fighting the wind I used it to my advantage.
I set up the flash gear to override the light from the sun and used a neutral density filter to allow me to slow the shutter down enough to capture some of the movement in her hair.
This allowed me to capture the fantastic clouds and skyline while still exposing the bride-to-be perfectly.
This looks so dramatic, more like a fashion shoot than a pre-wedding shoot!
For the image of the couple near the railings I got them to stand as if he was 'chatting to her' and then used the out of focus Bridlington skyline as the backdrop.
For the final image of this set I again used the flash. This time it was used to fill in the light that would otherwise have created dark shadows on the left of their faces.
This allowed me to correctly expose them against the bright sky.

 These are just a few of the images from a wedding pre-shoot that I did in the studio a few weekends ago. This beautiful bride-to-be screamed out to be photographed close up and as soon as I adjusted the lighting to suit her I knew that I was going to get a good image.
This young lady is going to make my job at the wedding easy!
I don't normally tag my wedding images with the "beauty tag", but in this case I will make a well justified exception.
Of course I had to create a more masculine image of the groom-to-be, so I captured this one of him with his bride-to-be in the background.
I just love this sort of photography and being able to get portraits of interesting people like this all day!
For the final image I wanted something moody, so I got them to stand in front of the wall and lit them with a very focussed light.
The pre-shoot is an essential part of the build up to the wedding. We use the time to show the best stance for the couple for their wedding images. This goes a long way to reduce the stress on the big day and helps improve the wedding album. |
The client was sat on a chair with a flash lighting the wall behind. A second and third light source illuminated her.
I asked her to throw her head back on my signal. The motion of her hair created the dynamic for the image.
I then post-processed the image using our image magic workflow to give it the monotone effect and added a high level of graininess.
Her arms were pulled in close to cover her breasts and ensure that nothing explicit was on display.

Boys!
The best thing about taking pictures of children is that they are unpredictable. This makes it both a challenge and a pleasure when you get results like this.
Instead of locking him up in a studio, we went outside armed with a selection of toys.
Within a few minutes he had forgotten that I was there and was busily playing with these toy binoculars.
The moment he lifted them up to his face the tongue appeared, and I had just a few tenths of a second to capture this image.
